This film was created for BBC StoryWorks in partnership with Consumers International as part of the Purchasing Powers series, exploring the evolving relationship between consumers, brands, and sustainability. Directed and edited by our team, the project combines documentary storytelling with a forward-looking exploration of how consumer behaviour is shaping the future of global commerce.

Centered around Helena Laurent and her team at Consumers International, the film examines how organisations, businesses, and consumers are navigating a rapidly changing world where purchasing decisions carry increasing social and environmental impact.

The documentary highlights the idea that every individual is a consumer and that the choices people make every day collectively influence markets, industries, and the future of the planet. By exploring the intersection between consumer empowerment and responsible business practices, the film illustrates how brands and individuals can work together to drive meaningful change.

Viewers are introduced to the broader vision behind the Purchasing Powers initiative: a future where informed consumers and forward-thinking companies collaborate to create systems that prioritise both people and sustainability. The film demonstrates that innovation, ethical practices, and shared responsibility are increasingly central to modern consumer culture and long-term economic resilience.
